I created this blog to illustrate the importance of successful communication in the healthcare industry, especially within a hospital between all of its staff members. With so many advances in healthcare there are always changes being made to ensure the practice is either safer, more efficient or has improved customer service. But all these changes can contribute to communication inefficiencies that cost more than $10 billion annually in U.S hospitals which can then lead to medical errors, staff shortages, and patient dissatisfaction.
There are many ways to implement communication for various messages. Whether you are updating your team of pharmacist about the new software for ordering medications or explaining to the family members of your patient that they are being moved to the intensive care unit you the communicator needs to see to it that your recipients fully understand all the details involved in your message.
